Man dies after being hit by ute on Sydney's M2 motorway
"The patient sustained significant injuries," Insp. Bungener said.
A man has died after being hit by a ute on a busy Sydney motorway.
Emergency services were called just after 9.30am after reports a man had been struck on the M2 at Epping, near the Beecroft Road off-ramp.
Police said the man, believed to be aged in his 30s, may have been attempting to retrieve something from the road when he was struck.
He was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to the Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition.
He died in hospital.
NSW Ambulance duty operations manager, Inspector Dennis Bungener, said fellow drivers came to the man's aid.
"Members of the public had rendered assistance before paramedics arrived at the scene.
"They should be commended.
"We encourage drivers to be aware of the adverse weather conditions.
"We need to look out for one another on the roads."
All citybound lanes were closed following the incident and motorists advised to avoid the area.
