Queensland man charged after baby found in critical condition

Officers were at the home on June 23. (Nine)

A 23-year-old man has been charged with grievous bodily harm after a five-month-old baby was found in a critical condition in a Bundamba home earlier this month.

A major investigation centre was established under codename Operation Sierra Boston on June 23 after the infant was found unresponsive inside a residence at 3.30pm.

The boy was transported to the Queensland Children's Hospital where he remains in a critical condition in intensive care after sustaining multiple serious injuries.

Ongoing investigations by Ipswich detectives and officers from the State Crime Command Child Abuse and Trauma Unit have led to a 23-year-old Lockrose man being charged with grievous bodily harm.

Police said the man was known to the family.

He is due to appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court tomorrow.
