Knife-wielding woman chases would-be thief out of her store

A would-be robber flees after being confronted with a knife at a western Sydney store. (9News)

A young woman pulled out a 30cm kitchen knife to scare off a would-be robber at her family convenience store in western Sydney.

The 23-year-old woman was working alone last night when a man came into the store about 7.30pm.

He approached the counter and demanded money.

CCTV footage appears to show him also trying to push her.

But the woman whipped out a large kitchen knife - used for cutting fruits and vegetables - from below the counter.

She chased him out of the store with the knife raised, and the man took nothing with him.

Police are now seeking to identify the man.

Anybody with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
