A man accused of organising a criminal syndicate across Sydney has been charged with multiple drug and weapons offences, as well as accessing child abuse material.

Officers with the Robbery and Serious Crime Squad uncovered a "sophisticated criminal network" involved in large-scale drug and firearm supply, which was operating out of Sydney's south-west.

Police allege they found heroin with an estimated street value of $540,000 and other drug paraphernalia when they searched a Roselands home in April, and arrested a man during a search of an Earlwood home yesterday.

Officers allegedly seized items including about $10,000 cash, jewellery, a mobile phone, a CCTV system and various documents during the searches of several Sydney properties.

The 38-year-old Campsie man has been charged with multiple offences, including directing the activities of a criminal group.

Police will allege in court that the man was directing the activities of a criminal group, which included the supply of illicit drugs and firearms, and conspiracies to commit armed robberies, as well as accessing and downloading child abuse material.

He has been refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today.
