A house has suffered significant damage after a major housefire in Melbourne overnight.
Approximately 30 firefighters responded to Mackenzie Street, following several Triple Zero calls reporting a house on fire shortly before 12:30am.
Metropolitan fire crews arrived on scene within six minutes to find a single story weatherboard house well involved in the fire, threatening neighbouring properties and power lines.
Crews conducted a search of the house to ensure no one was inside.
Thanks to the quick work of fire crews, the blaze was declared under control less than 30 minutes after firefighters arrived at the scene.
At the height of the incident there were five firefighting appliances on scene, along with an aerial appliance, a rescue appliance, and a command unit.
The exact cause of the fire is still unknown.
