Man fighting for life after home intruder hits him with guitar

A man hit over the head with a guitar in his own home is fighting for his life as police seek his alleged assailant.
A man and a woman were sleeping inside their unit on Wharf Road in Gladesville in Sydney's north yesterday morning about 8.25am when they were woken by a man standing beside their bed.
The intruder, who had climbed through the bedroom window, grabbed a guitar found inside the room and hit the just-woken man in the head before fleeing the unit.

The 36-year-old victim suffered critical head injuries and underwent emergency surgery at Royal North Shore Hospital.
He remains in intensive care.
The 31-year-old woman also living in the unit was uninjured.
Police are looking to speak to a man described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged 30-35, with light brown hair and a long beard.
They have released footage of the man they wish to speak to.
