Ten people have been injured, including one critically, after an 89-year-old driver crashed over an embankment and into a packed cafe in Sydney's north.
A group of mothers had just done the morning run to North Epping Public School when a car careered through a garden bed and into the table they were sitting at on Malton Road in North Epping.
One woman, aged 39, was pinned to a brick wall and has been taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition.
Another nine people suffered minor injuries.
The driver has been taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
Some witnesses broke down in shock while giving statements to police.
