An 11-year-old boy is reportedly in hospital and after being mauled by a dog while walking with his mother in Melbourne.
Aidan Clonan was pushing his bike uphill along Bishop Ave in Diamond Creek about 6pm when he was attacked by a dog, the Diamond Valley Leader reports.
"I was walking past the dog when it just jumped at me and bit me — I was really scared," Aidan was quoted as saying.
Aidan said two witnesses stopped to help him.
The dog and its owner walked off in the opposite direction, he said.
"I just ran away as fast as I could."
Diamond Creek Senior Constable David Garlick told the paper police are looking for a woman believed to be the owner of the dog.
"We don't want this dog on the streets attacking others," he said.
"The young boy is still in hospital awaiting surgery so it must have been a fairly decent attack."
The woman was wearing a hat, a pink top and black pants. Her dog was black and medium sized.
