A brave six-year-old girl who found the body of her slain mother in their Queensland home raised the alarm by calling police.

Police found the 24-year-old woman at a home in Crestmead, in Logan south of Brisbane, at about 6.30am yesterday.

She had suffered serious facial injuries.

The woman's 24-year-old partner was allegedly found outside the house covered in blood.

He was arrested and has since been charged with the young mother's murder.

The Acacia Ridge man is due to face the Beenleigh Magistrates Court today.

Neighbour Suzanne Woodgate said one of the woman's children made the horrific discovery.

"She found her mum laying on the ground dead," Ms Woodgate told 9News.

She described the victim as a good mother, neighbour and friend.
