Four arrested after spate of violence in Sydney overnight

Four men have been arrested over an affray in Sydney's CBD following a night of violence that has left one man fighting for his life.

Police responded to reports of a brawl at a park off Pirrama Road near the Star Casino at Pyrmont about 2.30am, witnessing a number of men fleeing when they arrived.

Two men, aged 24 and 20, were found suffering facial injuries and were taken by paramedics to St Vincent's Hospital in a stable condition.

Three men, all aged 21, and a 20-year-old were arrested and taken to Surry Hills Police Station, but were later released pending further inquiries.

In a separate incident just nearby, a 40-year-old man was rushed to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital after he was stabbed in the neck by a man known to him just after 2.30am at Pyrmont.

He remains there in a critical condition.

Graham Egan, 50, is behind bars after being charged over the stabbing.

Police also attended Sydney hospital about 9.45pm yesterday after a 24-year-old man presented suffering a wound to his back.

He was later transferred to St Georges Hospital in a stable condition.

A second man, 24, presented to Royal Alfred Hospital with wounds to his right arm and shoulder.

According to police, the men, who are known to each other, were involved in an altercation with three Caucasian youths near the intersection of Pitt and Bridge Streets.
