Sydney weather damaging winds forecast as dashcam shows tree almost falling on car on M4
A driver has come within centimetres of being crushed by a falling tree on a Sydney motorway.
Video posted to the Dash Cam Owners Australia Facebook Page shows the large tree coming down on the M4 in the city's west on Friday night during strong winds.
The white hatchback, travelling in the far left lane, is seen hitting its brakes just as the tree falls.
It avoids hitting the tree just as a second car, in the right lane, is also seen braking and swerving away from the tree.
That car appears to drive through the thinner branches of the tree and leaves, before coming to a stop.
All four were taken to hospital and the highway was closed in both directions for some time.
Nearby, another tree fell at Wetherill Park KFC, crushing a car.
Wind gusts also blew the roof off a unit block at Mount Druitt, spreading debris on the street below.
It comes as the Bureau of Meteorology issued a warning for damaging winds on Monday.
The winds are expected to average 55kph to 65kph with gusts of up to 90kph.
They’re forecast to affect the coast of New South Wales, including some of Sydney on Monday afternoon and overnight.
