Search resumes after car plunges off bridge north of Sydney
A search operation has resumed after a car crashed off a bridge north of Sydney overnight.
Emergency services were called to the Peats Ferry Bridge in Brooklyn after reports a car had gone over a guardrail and into the Hawkesbury River about 9.15pm.
"I heard a massive bang and I looked over towards the bridge and I saw the car just plunge down into the water," witness Jonathan Saben told 9News.
Search crews remained on scene throughout the night however strong tides made the search difficult.
The number of people inside the car has not been confirmed but Peats Ferry Bridge was currently closed in both directions.
Divers resumed their search this morning.
