Man admits murdering Melbourne mum
Kylie Blackwood was murdered in 2013.
A man has confessed to the murder of a Melbourne woman six years ago, just hours before his Supreme Court trial was due to begin.
Pakenham woman Kylie Blackwood, 42, was found bleeding to death by her 11-year-old twin daughters in August 2013 after she failed to pick them up from school.
Ms Blackwood had multiple stab wounds to her neck and chest and was unresponsive as she lay dying on her couch following a robbery gone wrong, a pre-trial court hearing was previously told.
On Thursday, Scott Alan Murdoch pleaded guilty to murder and intentionally causing serious injury, on the same day his jury trial was due to begin.
He was arrested nearly three years after the killing when he was identified as a possible match to DNA found on Ms Blackwood's jeans.
Murdoch, who faced court dressed in jeans and sneakers, is due to appear before Justice Jane Dixon again on August 16 for a further mention before sentencing.
