Police responding to siege situation south of Sydney



Wollongong street in lockdown as police respond to siege situation

A siege is currently underway in Wollongong as police negotiate with a person inside a residential complex.


Police attended the property on Thames Street in West Wollongong earlier today with an arrest warrant for a man who lives there.


A West Wollongong street is closed off t o the public as police respond to a siege.


It is not known if there is anyone else inside the property, or if the man is armed.


An exclusion zone is set up between Princes Highway and The Mall.


Road closures and diversions are in place and police are advising the public to avoid the area until further notice.
