Tree falls on car in the Blue Mountains, leaving one dead and another trapped

One person, believed to be a woman, has died after a tree collapsed on a car in the Blue Mountains.

Another person, believed to be a male, is also seriously injured after being trapped inside the wreckage for several hours in Katoomba on Thursday night.

It is believed the incident took place around 7PM on Thursday night, with the male being freed around 10PM and flown to Westmead hospital.

It's understood the entire car was crushed when the tree fell, believed to have been caused by heavy winds.
