Woman fighting for life after Gold Coast crash 'wasn't wearing seatbelt'

A woman is fighting for life in hospital after she was in a car that crashed and rolled on the Gold Coast.

Vision from the scene shows the wreckage of a white Holden Commodore strewn across the Pacific Highway at Tugun.

The female passenger in her 20s was treated by paramedics and taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.

Police say it appears speed and not wearing a seat belt contributed to the accident.

"We encourage people to make sure that they stick to the fatal five and watch the speed, wear the seat belts, and no alcohol," said a police spokesman.

The male driver was not injured and has been arrested by police.
