Shayda Bastani Rad haunted by hitman's gun
June 08, 2009 12:00am
WITH her former fiance shot dead at 29 and her new lover fighting for his life, Shayda Bastani Rad has seen more violence and tragedy in her 23 years than anyone should see in their lifetime.
Ms Bastani was recovering at home last night after being shot through the thigh when a hitman tried to kill her boyfriend Fadi Ibrahim, the brother of Kings Cross identity John and former bikie Sam.
Mr Ibrahim, 35, remained in a critical condition after undergoing his fourth round of surgery for five gunshot wounds to the stomach, arms and chest suffered as the couple sat in his black Lamborghini outside his Castle Cove home about 10.30pm Friday.

While the Ibrahim family's lawyer Stephen Alexander went to extreme lengths to protect Ms Bastani's identity, The Daily Telegraph can reveal the young woman's lengthy involvement in the underworld violence involving the Ibrahim clan.
Now dating Fadi Ibrahim, the stunning brunette was previously engaged to one of his close friends Faouzi Abou Jibal.

He was shot dead while on the run for his role in the murder of Fat Pizza funnyman George Nassour's brother Robin Nassour.
Mr Nassour was stabbed in the basement carpark of a Chiswick apartment. It followed a dispute with Michael Ibrahim outside the DCM nightclub, owned by his brother John Ibrahim, on New Year's Eve 2006.
While Michael Ibrahim is serving 6½ years for the killing, Abou Jibal was never sentenced over the killing

He was found dead in a Lakemba park with a single gunshot to his back in May 2006.
Ibrahim's cousins Mouhamed Tajjour and Sleiman Tajjour were jailed for Mr Nassour's manslaughter last year.
Silencer used in shooting attack
Court records reveal Ms Bastani identified the knife used to kill Mr Nassour as the one she purchased on eBay as a gift for her fiance in December 2005.
A source close to the family said yesterday Ms Bastani was suffering nightmares after Friday's shooting.

"She is freaking out," the source said. "She is a nice person, a young girl. She is petrified."
John Ibrahim visited Royal North Shore Hospital to see his brother Fadi, surrounded by a heavy entourage of men.
In a statement on his behalf, Mr Alexander said his client expressed "gratitude and sincere thanks" to hospital staff and sought to "dispel speculation there will be retaliation by, or on behalf of, the Ibrahim family".
"My client has absolute faith in the police investigation and is confident that the police will bring the perpetrators to justice."
In relation to that statement, Middle East organised crime squad commander Superintendent Deb Wallace said: "Police are encouraged by the comments and will work with the family. We haven't identified anyone that we would identify as a suspect.
"For now we are just gathering as much forensic evidence as we can."
The youngest of the four, Fadi Ibrahim has, until now, been considered the less conspicuous of the Ibrahim brothers.
Sam Ibrahim, 48, was the former president of the Nomads outlaw motorcycle group before the gang split in 2007, forming Notorious. Fadi Ibrahim was shot at close range by a lone shooter armed with a silenced weapon as he sat in the driver's seat of the Lamborghini by his girlfriend's side.
It is believed the gunman had been lying in wait on the Castle Cove golf course.
A 17-year-old resident reported hearing Ms Bastani scream for help to save her boyfriend's life , before calling an ambulance.
