Israeli Occupation Forces Broke Into Wattan TV and Stole Equipment and Contents..Video

Ramallah – Wattan News

Israeli soldiers broke into the Wattan TV headquarters in Ramallah last night and confiscated all the computers used by editors and reporters in the newsroom and administrative offices. Administrative and financial files of the institution, transmitters, and broadcasting equipment were taken. When the night shift employees tried to stop the soldiers and inquired about the reason of such an attack, they were detained for more than three hours inside the office and their communication devices were withheld from them.

This attack is nothing but piracy under a policy of systematic attack targeting Palestinian media organizations and journalists. It should be noted that this was not the first attack on Wattan TV, which was completely destroyed during the Israeli invasion of the Palestinian cities in 2002.

Wattan TV deplores this aggressive behavior against an efficient and effective media organization and will work through its contacts with local and international media and human rights organizations to expose this criminal act. Wattan will work on restoring all the stolen equipment and transmitters and to try to restore its interrupted broadcasting.

Wattan administration is adamant to continue to perform its functions, despite the difficulties caused by the immoral process which aims to cripple Wattan’s ability to continue its effective role.

In this context, we call on the Palestinian National Authority and human rights organizations, all local and international media institutions to redouble their efforts to protect journalists and media organizations.
