ACCC legal action against Air Asia

THE ACCC has begun legal action against Air Asia for allegedly breaching the Australian Consumer Law.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission will allege in the Federal Court in Melbourne that the Air Asia website did not display airfare prices inclusive of all taxes, duties, fees and other mandatory charges.
The ACCC alleges AirAsia failed to show total prices for flights between:
- MELBOURNE and Macau, London, Ho Chi Minh City, New Deli, Hangzhou and Chengdu
- PERTH and Taipei, Phuket, Osaka, London, Ho Chi Minh City, and
- THE Gold Coast and Ho Chi Minh City.
It is alleged that AirAsia has contravened section 48 of the Australian Consumer
Law within the Competition and Consumer Act 2010.
The ACCC is seeking penalties, a correction, an injunction and a declaration AirAsia contravened the Competition and Consumer Act.
