NSW Government offers relief for rain damage
December 02, 2011
PEOPLE affected by recent heavy rain in the north and west of NSW can now apply for natural-disaster relief.
A range of options is available to eligible people whose homes have been damaged or destroyed, the Minister for Western NSW, Kevin Humphries said on Friday.
Small businesses and primary producers can also seek help.
"I have spent the week meeting with people across western NSW who have been affected and there is an absolute sense of devastation at the extent of the damage caused by these floods," Mr Humphries said in a statement.
"The NSW Government is committed to helping those affected get back on their feet."
Emergency Services Minister Michael Gallacher said Natural Disaster Declarations assistance is available to Armidale Dumaresq, Gunnedah, Gwydir, Inverell Shire, Liverpool Plains, Moree Plains Shire, Muswellbrook, Narrabri, Tamworth and Upper Hunter Shire local government areas.
The government was considering whether to make further declarations in surrounding areas, he added.
