Hariri calls on Nasrallah to take historical stance, cooperate with STL
Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri commended Wednesday on the Special Tribunal for Lebanon decision to unseal the indictment for the 2005 murder of Martyr Rafik Hariri and called on Hezbollah to cooperate with the court.
“We demand Hezbollah to simply detach itself from the suspects… we want to see a fair trial,” Hariri said a statement issued by his office.
Hariri called on Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah to turn over the four suspects accused by the STL.
He also said that Pre-Trial Judge Daniel Fransen’s decision to unseal the indictment is a “breakthrough” in the path of achieving justice.
“International justice has decided today to reveal a significant part of the evidence linked to the terrorist murder,” Hariri added.
He voiced gratitude for “the efforts exerted by the STL,” and thanked the investigations conducted by the international commission that probed Rafik Hariri’s murder.
Hariri also said that the perpetrators have “diabolic minds,” but added that “the sun of truth and justice has risen on Lebanon.
