Plane crashes with at least 90 on board in China’s northeast

A Chinese passenger plane overshot its runway on landing late Tuesday in China's northeast, injuring more than 20 people, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
The plane overshot the runway and burst into flames while trying to land in the city of Yichun in remote Heilongjiang province, Xinhua said.
The aircraft was operated by Henan Airlines, a carrier based in the northern province of the same name.
At least 20 people were being treated for injuries after the crash, Xinhua said, but it did not mention any deaths.
Xinhua said 91, or possibly up to 96, people were on board at the time.
The aircraft was an E-190 jet, initial Xinhua reports said, a passenger aircraft manufactured by Embraer, the Brazilian aerospace conglomerate.
The crash occurred at about 10:10 pm (1410 GMT) near Yichun's Lindu airport. The plane had taken off earlier from Harbin, the provincial capital, Xinhua said.
Firefighters and other rescue personnel were at the scene of the crash attempting to extinguish the fire and rescue victims, it added.
Yichun is near China's northern border with Russia.
