A 24-year-old woman has been charged with murdering a man she lived with after he was stabbed in the chest and died on a Brisbane footpath from "catastrophic" injuries.
Paramedics were called to the scene by the woman just before midnight.
They worked on the 26-year-old man for half an hour, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said he had been stabbed with a large knife.
"The injuries that the deceased suffered last night were obviously catastrophic and resulted in this man's death," Detective Inspector Mark Thompson said.
The woman was taken into custody and is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court this afternoon.
Police said the pair lived together in a unit near where the man died and were seen coming and going from their residence, together and separately, throughout the night.
Detective Inspector Thompson said police want to hear from anyone who may have seen the pair yesterday.
"Anyone that has any CCTV footage around the Junction Terrace Annerley area and the Ipswich Road Annerley area, we are particularly interested in the time period between 6pm and midnight on yesterday's date," he said.
Detective Inspector Thompson said the victim's family was "distraught".
"No-one would like to hear this news and police are working with them to make sure they are supported throughout this terrible time in their life," he said.
A crime scene has been declared and specialist officers will continue to work at the site throughout the day.
