Boy charged for NSW assault on woman, 78



A boy has been charged with assaulting a 78-year-old woman during a bag snatch in NSW's Southern Highlands.


The alleged incident, which took place in a supermarket car park in Bowral around 1.40pm on August 3, saw the woman thrown to the ground, leaving her with a broken pelvis in hospital, where she remains.


The boy then allegedly stole the woman's vehicle.


A boy of 16 was arrested on Wednesday and taken to Penrith Police Station where he was charged with aggravated steal from person causing grievous bodily harm, aggravated steal from person, steal motor vehicle, never licensed driver and breach of bail.


He was refused bail and is due to appear at a children's court later on Thursday.
