Regime Intensifies Assault on Idlib and Homs
Farah news online: Residents of the town of Faour in Lebanon organized an open sit-in in solidarity with the Syrian Revolution. Demonstrators chanted against the regime and called for Assad to step down. The sit-in came after the Lebanese government arrested members of the Free Syrian Army, allowed Hezbollah units to interrogate them, and announced its decision to hand them over to the regime. A court later decided to release them from custody.
Massacres continued in Homs today, as Assad’s forces massacred 45 civilians in the neighbourhood of Karm al-Zaytoun, including 23 females, 28 children, and 6 men. The females were confirmed to have been subjected to rape, including the minors. In an intended act of humiliation, regime forces arrested a group of women and stripped off their clothes in front of their families and in the middle of the neighbourhood square. Regime forces committed another massacre by executing seven civilians in the neighbourhood of Jobar. Meanwhile, the heavy bombardment continued on the neighbourhoods of Karm Zaytoun, Rifai, Bab Draib, and Jab Jandali, and the cities of Rastan and Qasir.
Assad’s forces killed at least 108 today; most fell in the city of Homs, and in the province of Idlib as the regime continued to shell the cities of Jeser Shoghour and Idlib. As for the province of Deir Azzour, Assad’s forces raided the towns of Hajin and Quriya, and the city of Deir Azzour looking for activists, amid heavy random fire that targeted private property.
