Assad’s Forces Break into Zabadani and the Regime Suspends All Loans

Farah News Online: Assad’s forces broke into the city of Zabadani in the suburbs of Damascus after agreeing with the revolutionaries on a ceasefire and retreated in return for the regime allowing food, medical supplies, and heating fuel into the city. The agreement was reached after the city was heavily bombarded with rockets and artillery for a week killing at least a hundred in the city.
Massive demonstrations broke out in most of the residential neighbourhoods of Damascus today in solidarity with the neighbourhood of Baba Amr in Homs. The demonstrations were called for after Baba Amr suffered hundreds of deaths due to the ongoing military campaign by the regime’s forces against it. At least 67 were killed in Syria today; most fell in Homs and Idlib, where hundreds of new tanks and armoured units were recently brought in.
As for the province of Daraa, security forces arrested over 400 civilians, destroyed at least 15 houses, and wrecked around 300 commercial establishments after raiding the town of Tesil. The military campaign came amidst a heavy siege, choking curfew, and deteriorating humanitarian conditions as food, medicine, heating fuel, communications, and electricity have been cut off the city.
Economically, the regime suspended the offering of loans indefinitely in all public banks. On behalf of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Finance issued a confidential statement ordering all public banks to stop offering loans to preserve currency liquidity.
