International Community Close to Formally Recognize SNC
Farah News Online: According to sources within the Arab League, the League will be deliberating in their upcoming session in Cairo the issue of recognizing the Syrian National Council (SNC). This development should finally enable Western governments to intervene in Syria on humanitarian bases if the SNC continues to call for foreign intervention.
At least 137 people were killed today; most fell in Homs, where the heavy shelling and bombardment intensified from tanks, artillery and airplanes. As for Rastan, shelling continued as the regime took over many sensitive neighbourhoods.
In Idlib, many people were injured from the regime’s heavy bombardment, while around 200 tanks and APCs were seen on the route to Saraqeb. In the province of Daraa, Assad’s forces invaded the city amidst heavy random shelling, arbitrary arrests and house-to house sweeps which included a lot of looting and sabotaging. Checkpoints were spread all over the city, while snipers were deployed on all high rises. Assad’s forces then forced residents to go out on pro-regime rallies. The regime also bombed a nearby house and placed arms and explosives to be filmed by regime-run media outlets as weapons of terrorist groups to justify the invasion. It is noted that the city has only had peaceful demonstrations since the beginning of the revolution.
The military campaign continued on the suburbs of Damascus, as many areas such as the village of Abbada and the town of Rankous were invaded again, while the shelling continued on the cities of Zabadani and Madaya. In the province of Deir Azzour, the city of Quriya underwent heavy shelling by the regime’s tanks after 32 additional tanks were brought in to support the 24 tanks already present.
