UNSC Discussed a Power-Sharing Draft Resolution For Syria
Farah News Online: UNSC held a session to discuss an Arab League draft resolution aimed at resolving the “Syrian crisis”, as the draft resolution called for transferring all powers from Bashar Assad to the Vice-President Faruq al-Sharaa. The resolution also called for elections to be held after the current government and the opposition form a unified government. Russia criticized the draft as it believes it crossed the redlines, but it exhibited willingness to discuss it.
Assad forces killed at least 102 today in what was called the Friday of Self-Defence. 38 were killed in Damascus suburbs, 21 in Hama, 15 in Daraa, and 14 in Aleppo. Massacres continued in Homs as the Syrian regime shelled many residential areas with heavy artillery burying entire families under the rubbles.
The military campaign continued against the city of Hama, as security forces invaded the neighbourhoods of Hamidiya and Faraya under heavy machinegun fire and shelling, after laying siege to them for days and deploying snipers all over the rooftops. The neighbourhoods of Sheikh Anbar, Wadi Hawarna, and Souq Shajara were also invaded and many people were arrested. The dead bodies of many detainees from yesterday have surfaced in sporadic locations all over the city. The regime is starving the city of Hama as all bakeries have been shut down. As for the neighbourhood of Bab Qabli, the regime continues to target civilians randomly and arbitrarily, while trucks were brought in to empty the contents of some houses.
In Idlib, massive demonstrations broke out despite the heavy rain and snow. Clashes with the regime continue as the revolutionaries continue to deny the regime access to their cities.
