SNC Officially Calls For UNSC Intervention

Farah News Online: The SNC officially requested the Arab League to defer the Syrian issue to the UNSC, accusing the Assad regime of genocide and other crimes against humanity. The SNC is also trying to convince the Arab League not to extend the Observers Mission as it only servers to provide the Assad regime with political immunity while it kills the Syrian people.

Syrian navy units intercepted and opened fire on a Lebanese fishing boat carrying three Lebanese civilians by the Arida border town. One Lebanese civilian was killed, the other injured, and the third was taken to a Security Services’ base for interrogation. The family of the killed civilian are still trying to reclaim his body from the Syrian authorities. This incident, which was condemned by Lebanese President Michelle Suleiman, is not unprecedented as Syrian authorities have repeatedly violated Lebanese sovereignty since the beginning of the revolution by killing and detaining Lebanese citizens, as well as numerous trespassing incidents and firing at Lebanese territories.

Assad’s forces killed at least 35 civilians today; most fell in Idlib. Additionally, 60 corpses were found in a hospital in Idlib raising the number of today’s dead to 95. Clashes intensified around the areas of Jesr al-Shoghour and Maaret Noman in the towns of Kherbet Ghazaleh, Kherbet al-Jouz, Mazraet Adliya, and Reef Maaret Noman, while the residents of the town of Kafartakharim forced Assad’s forces to fully retreat from the city.

As for the general amnesty issued by Bashar Assad for defected soldiers, it turned out that after pardoning the soldiers, the regime is detaining them as civilians and charging them with terrorism charges that are not included in the general amnesty that was also issued for civilians last week.
