Comancheros bikie boss Mick Hawi is granted bail

COMANCHEROS boss Mick Hawi has been granted bail on an affray charge related to a fatal bikie brawl at Sydney airport.

Hawi, 28, was granted bail in the NSW Supreme Court today after his initial application was refused in a lower court.

Justice Megan Latham was told yesterday that Hawi's wife Carolina Gonzales was 31 weeks into an "at risk pregnancy" and could go into labour at any time.

Specialist Dr Gregory Davis gave evidence that Ms Gonzales needed her "partner to support her".

Hawi has been in custody since his arrest on April 6.

He was charged with one count of affray over his alleged role in the March 22 airport brawl that led to the death of Anthony Zervas, 29.

Mr Zervas was bludgeoned with a metal bollard during the brawl and later died.

Police allege witnesses saw Hawi holding the weapon and striking Mr Zervas as he lay on the floor.

The victim was the brother of senior Hells Angel member Peter Zervas, 32, who police say Hawi threatened at the airport on the day of the brawl.

"You've got it coming. I will get you tomorrow," a witness told police they overheard Hawi say to Peter Zervas.

A week later, Peter Zervas was shot in the chest, shoulder, hip and foot as he sat in his car in the driveway of his southwest Sydney home.

He survived. No one has been charged over that shooting.
