Homeless man on trial for rape, balcony death in Waterloo
A HOMELESS man charged with the sexual assault and murder of a teenage Chinese student has been committed to stand trial.
Brendan Dennison was also dealt an additional five charges over the death of 18-year-old who died when she fell from her third-floor balcony in Waterloo to escape his horrifying ordeal.
He now faces 27 charges including murder, sexual intercourse without consent, forcing the girl's boyfriend to commit acts of indecency and theft at knifepoint.
He is also charged over the serious injuries inflicted on the girl's 19-year-old Korean boyfriend when he fell 25m onto the concrete below the apartment.
Dennison, of no fixed address, who turned 27 in custody last week, is accused of raping the girl three times and her boyfriend twice.
He also allegedly threatened two other female students with assault while armed with a kitchen knife.
Dennison is also alleged to have robbed one of the students of her wallet containing $120 and another student of $50 cash.
He was remanded in custody after he was committed to stand trial in Central Local Court earlier today.
He will appear in the Supreme Court on August 7.
