July 19, 2009 5:18PM
POLICE and rescue teams are searching for a man after a runabout boat carrying five people capsized in the Myall Lakes National Park area on the state's north coast.
The man, 42, who is believed to be a guest of the Eco Point Myall Shores Resort, was with a group of people on the boat which overturned on Myall Lake, north of Newcastle.
Four people returned to the shore after the incident, police said.
"The Westpac rescue helicopter is involved in the operation and water police divers have just arrived on the scene and hope to be in the water soon,'' a police spokesman said.
Nelson Bay water police, are also attending the scene.
A 75-year-old Newcastle man drowned in the same area on December 29, 2008, after a storm struck while he and three friends were on an annual canoeing trek.
