Dad finds twins dead, mum 'overdosed'
July 06, 2009 11:30pm
THE Major Crime Squad is investigating the deaths of seven-month-old baby twins in the Perth suburb of Cloverdale.
PerthNow reports the twins' father arrived home at 3.30pm and found his wife and twins - a boy and a girl - all unconscious.
The mother is suspected to have had a drug overdose.
Some media outlets are reporting that the babies drowned. However, Sgt Greg Lambert from Police Media was unable to confirm the cause of death when he spoke to PerthNow at 8.15pm tonight.
"Major Crime are there and they are treating it as a homicide,'' Sgt Lambert said.
PerthNow understands that the twins were rushed to Princess Margaret Hospital but they were unable to be resuscitated and were pronounced dead at the hospital.
Their mother is at Royal Perth Hospital being treated for a suspected drug overdose.
She is in a criticial condition.
Forensic detectives are at the family home in Flintlock Court and are expected to work through the night.
