Two men charged over 'acid attack' at Westmead
TWO men have been charged over an alleged home invasion in which acid was poured over two Sri Lankan students.
At least five men forced their way into a home at Westmead, in Sydney's west, about midnight (AEST) on May 17, police said.
They allegedly threw acid over Jayasri Watawala, 22, leaving him severely burned.
The invaders are also accused of dousing Chathuika Weerasinghe, 27, with acid before stabbing him in the abdomen and breaking his ankle.
The students' conditions have since stabilised.
Police arrested a 26-year-old Girraween man at Mascot on May 20.
He was questioned and later charged with failure as an owner to disclose the identity of the driver or passenger of a vehicle.
The next day a Hebersham man, 26, was arrested at Merrylands and charged with concealing a serious offence.
Police did not give details of the offences, but said both related to the alleged home invasion.
The pair have been granted bail to face Sydney's Downing Centre Local Court on June 24.
