Rudd will talk boats
January 09, 2012
PEOPLE smuggling will be on the agenda when Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd meets his Indonesian counterpart just a week after the country admitted its relaxation of visa restrictions may trigger a fresh wave of asylum seekers.
Mr Rudd said he would speak with Indonesian Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa in Jakarta about regional politics, disaster management, terrorism and asylum seekers.
Indonesia plans to make it easier for Sri Lankans, Bangladeshis, Pakistanis and Afghans to enter the country, a key stopover for asylum seekers.
