March 14 Officials Hail ‘Historic Day,’ Hope Justice Will be Served
The March 14 forces hailed the indictment and arrest warrants submitted to Prosecutor General Saeed Mirza in ex-Premier Rafik Hariri’s assassination case on Thursday.
"This is a big day for Lebanon," March 14 General-Secretariat coordinator Fares Soaid told Agence France Presse. "We have been waiting for this for six years.
"We hope that justice will be served and that Lebanon will be able to look toward a more stable future."
Al-Mustaqbal bloc MP Khaled Zahraman agreed, telling MTV that the hour of “truth has arrived.”
The MP said: “When we are briefed on the details of the indictment, we can give our opinion on it.”
“This is a historic day for Lebanon and the start of the course to know who killed our martyrs and put an end to political assassinations in Lebanon and arrest the murderers,” said al-Mustaqbal bloc MP Jamal al-Jarrah.
Lebanese Forces MP Antoine Zahra told LBC TV network that the submission of the indictment’s copy proves that the international tribunal has been functioning well.
Al-Mustaqbal movement official Mustafa Alloush also said that the court is not politicized. “Hariri’s case is a case of justice and is not linked to local events.”
“There won’t be stability in the region without knowing the truth in political assassinations,” he told al-Jazeera Arab TV network.
